Sega Dreamcast Retro GEM HDMI Install

The Dreamcast natively outputs VGA, making it one of the better-connected consoles of its era — but connecting to a modern display still requires adapters and introduces potential signal degradation. An internal HDMI mod changes that entirely, delivering a true digital-to-digital signal directly to your TV with no external adapters needed.

The Retro GEM from PixelFX is the successor to the DC Digital. It adds lag-free digital HDMI output, and its firmware updates over WiFi. Captain Retro will also install older DC Digital kits if you provide one.

Basic vs. Shiny Edition

• Basic: native direct video. A good fit if you already own an external scaler.
• Shiny: adds advanced scaling and video filters.

A Basic can be upgraded to Shiny at any time, even after installation, from PixelFX or through the kit's on-screen menu.
