Nintendo 64 Retro GEM HDMI Install

The Retro GEM from PixelFX adds lag-free digital HDMI output to the Nintendo 64. It is the successor to the N64Digital, and its firmware updates over WiFi.

Basic vs. Shiny Edition

• Basic: native direct video. A good fit if you already own an external scaler.
• Shiny: adds advanced scaling and video filters.

A Basic can be upgraded to Shiny at any time, even after installation, from PixelFX or through the kit's on-screen menu.

HDMI port options (choose on this page):

• Mini HDMI back panel replacement (3D printed). No cutting.
• Full-size HDMI in place of the analog AV port. No cutting, but the analog output is removed.
• Mini HDMI below the analog AV port. Requires cutting the shell.

Compatibility: all known N64 motherboards are supported. Pikachu Edition consoles need a custom mount that is not included with the kit.

Board sourcing cost (if Captain Retro sources your kit):

• Basic GEM: $140
• Shiny GEM: $200

The mod board required for this service is not included in the base price. You may source the board yourself or we can source it for you. Pricing reflects the selected option.
